What is Reactive IPL™?

Discover the mechanism behind permanent hair reduction. Learn how Sensica's patented RPL™ technology targets the hair follicle safely.

RPL™ Technology

Smart Light that Adapts

Active Skin Sensing

Active Skin Sensing

Patented sensors analyze your skin tone and contact quality before every single pulse, automatically calibrating energy for maximum safety.

Follicle Targeting

Follicle Targeting

Precisely tuned light energy targets melanin in the hair follicle, converting to heat that disables the growth cycle at the root.

Permanent Results

Permanent Results

Progressively reduces hair regrowth with each session. Achieve up to 90% permanent reduction safely at home.

THE SENSICA LAB

Why traditional IPL falls short

Standard IPL devices use a fixed energy output , the same intensity for every flash, regardless of your skin tone or the area being treated.

Even within a single treatment area, your skin tone can vary.
This creates two problems:

On lighter skin: the pulse may not be strong enough to effectively reach darker or finer hair follicles, leading to slow or inconsistent results.

On darker skin: the same pulse can be too intense, risking burns, discoloration, or discomfort.

The Problem

Real-time skin sensing

RPL™ solves this with a reactive approach. Instead of firing blindly, the device performs a skin scan before treatment and before every single pulse.

This adaptive calibration personalizes every pulse for skin tones I through IV.

Dual-sensor detection checks both skin tone and proper skin contact before every flash. If the skin tone falls outside the safe range or the device isn’t fully touching the skin, it won’t flash.

Before treatment begins, Sensilight Pro also uses the sensor to recommend the optimal energy level for your skin tone.

The Solution

Works on skin tones I–IV

Thanks to real-time skin sensing, Sensica's RPL™ devices work safely across Fitzpatrick skin types I through IV , from very fair to olive. The dual-sensor system ensures every pulse is calibrated for your specific skin tone at every point of contact.

RPL is effective on dark hair (black, dark brown, brown) on all compatible skin tones. It is not effective on light blonde, red, grey, or white hair, as these lack sufficient melanin for the light to target.
