What Makeup is Trending this Spring/Summer?

The best way to follow the latest beauty trends is by taking a look at what was hot on the runways at shows from Fashion Week SS18. Here’s a roundup of must-try beauty looks for the warmer months this year.

Beauty trends from the runways of the London, Milan, New York, and Paris Fashion Weeks are going to be seen everywhere in the coming seasons, so get ready!

Hair au naturel

The good news is that, across the board, the look for hair is ‘natural’.  Fashion Weeks featured everything from crazy curly hairdos to free, low-key waves.

All eyes on the catwalk

As far as makeup is concerned, unconventional looks from last season are making way for stunning yet wearable looks.

Eyes were a key feature for all the top designers. Tom Ford’s statement look replaced the cat-eye flick with an uber-cool ‘thumb print’ look for eyeliner. A similar smoky-eyed look was seen at Giorgio Armani. Ralph & Russo teamed it with loads of glitter. Salvatore Ferragamo’s went for a soft, smoky, cappuccino shadow, while Chanel took it to a silver-blue smoke. Carolina Herrera made a statement with thick, black kohl liner.

A show-stopping, heart-stealing look came from Tadashi Shoji who created a mermaid ambience, with his models flashing intense aqua-tinted eyes, created by lining the bottom lash line with turquoise eyeliner. Other mermaid-inspired looks were seen in Emporio Armani’s smoky eye paired with emerald-packed lower lashes; Roksanda’s grassy green shadow; and Tracy Reese’s lime-green. Missoni stole the show with bold, lilac, winged eyes; Byblos went for a swipe of neon orange shadow; and Delpozo models flashed neon orange liner.

Shimmer is also in – Ralph & Russo added shimmer with loads of sparkle applied to the inner eye; heaps of glitter plus black smoky eyeshadows was all the rage at Ashish’s SS18 show; Natasha Zinko framed models’ eyes with platinum silver; and Alberta Ferretti’s shimmering eyes paired with dewy skin was a big hit.

Luscious lashes

Another trend seen on the catwalks was lashes that were curled, glittery, jewel-encrusted, or even sequined (Etro, Marni, Dries Van Noten, Jeremy Scott, Ryan Lo, Tommy Hilfiger, and Francesco Scognamiglio). Clumpy lashes (Cushnie Et Ochs and Dior) were also trending.

Let’s face it

If it wasn’t eyes with a natural look on the rest of the face, it was bright lips with barely-there eyes (Badgley Mischka, Max Mara, Philosophy, Helmut Lang, and Blumarine). Tanya Taylor and The Blonds came up with a more subtle yet stunning look of brushed-up eyebrows and flushed or glossy lips.

Shimmer also featured on faces, with Alberto Zambelli creating a gorgeous look by applying rose gold across model’s eyes and cheeks; and Roland Mouret puling off an other-worldly radiance by piling highlighter and illuminator onto the high points of models’ faces;

Roundup

The look for spring/summer 2018 is definitely really natural, out-of-the-shower /beach hair, teamed with romantic fresh and minimal faces, bolstered by a healthy dash of color either to the eyes or lips. Easy to pull off, and fun to wear!
